Read through the following steps to understand and meet the requirements of this assignment:
Selecting your data
Select one example of qualitative data and one example of quantitative data that you have generated as you’ve worked through the subject.
Note: analysis of reports used for Assignments 1 and 2 must not be used.
Qualitative data :- Collaborate with your team to create the interview schedule that you will use to conduct qualitative interviews. The interview schedule will identify the structure your team will use to conduct the interviews and questions that will be asked in order to answer the following research question:
Note: While it’s important to share interview transcripts within your allocated team of four in
order to do the data analysis you can choose to pair up in two’s with in your team to conduct the interview itself.
What are important aspects of the student experience for online university students and why are these aspects important to them?
The data you collect from those interviews and the subsequent analysis of that data will form part of your submission for this assignment.
Alternatively you may instead conduct an observation of your team’s interviews as an alternative option for qualitative data analysis. If so please address the following observational research question:
What are the strengths and limitations of the Applied Social Research interview activity?

Note: You are required to have a minimum of four participants being inter viewed with in your team whether this is two pair inter views or one interview as a team of four. This is so that you are able to get substantial qualitative data in order for your data analysis.
Quantitative data :-
This data set is to be obtained by either statistical analysis of questionnaire findings through Survey Monkey or content analysis of a media article.
For your questionnaire you will be addressing the research question:
What are the most important online facilities to Western Sydney University online students and why?
For your content analysis you will choose one of the provided categories of texts/documents which are aligned with a specific topic and generate a coding frame work for the content analysis that is based on each category’s research question.
1. How the data was generated (i.e. summary of the method).
2. Your interpretation of the data (i.e. what does the data show/mean?).
3. How does the data answer the research question (analysis)?
4. Suggestions for how the findings could be used e.g to inform policy or identify patterns in the social phenomenon.
This part of the assignment is individual therefore you must write your own data story for each of your data sets based on the work you and your team have done together.

Formatting and word count :-
Present your two data sets directly below each 500 word written component. Data sets should be presented as tables or figures and labelled appropriately with table/figure numbers title and source statements. They are not included in the word count.
The written component of the portfolio is not an essay so an introduction and conclusion are not needed. You may use headings to organise your response. Reference to academic sources is not required. A reference list is required for data sources (if applicable). The reference list is not included in the word count.
