Introduction :-
Cultural safety is about community and individual em powerment to manage ones own health wellbeing and social issues. In practice cultural safety requires health systems and the people within them to examine their own practices in order to break down the barriers to achieving cultural under standing and responsiveness.
This assessment provides an opportunity to communicate your under standing of these principles and set a plan for how cultural safety should be applied in the workplace.
Summary :-
Please watch the Assessment 2 video which includes some context for the assessment a message and instruction from an Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander person.You are then to prepare a 1500 word (+/-10%) report on cultural safety including a cultural safety strategy.This assessment has three two parts. For each part you will have to respond to different questions Assessment 2 There are three parts to this assessment. See the Assessment Brief for a detailed description of what students are expected to complete in each section. Part 1 and 2 are to be submitted as one document PPT Part 3 are a set of questions for the student to answer in detail.
1 Part One Students must prepare a cultural safety strategic document for an identified work place real or imaginary please read the step by step instruction below for part 1
2. Part Two Students are required to evaluate or obtain feedback on their strategic document and add or make changes to their original document. Feedback evaluation can come either from an Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander person or group or comparing their strategic document with other published and available strategic documents and resources. In this case the cultural safety strategies are a nationally ac credited or accepted document that was formulated in partnership with Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander people. Part 2 becomes the last part section of your strategy document and includes the pages that you have adjusted. Please highlight your changes.
3.Part three Students are required to answer all the questions Please read the instructions and follow the guidelines.
Task Instructions
To complete this assessment task you must first of all complete Part 1 and Part 2 Your strategic document and changes made to it. Part 3 requires you to answer a number of questions related to your strategies and the delivery of culturally appropriate care. Part 1: You need to prepare a cultural safety strategy for a specific organisation and respond to a number of points as below. Some examples of organisations with sound cultural safety strategies policies frame works plans include:

3. Centre for Remote Health
4.Australian Health Ministers Advisory Council
5.Western NSW Primary Health Network

You will be assessed according to the marking guide below where your responses will be deemed as either satisfactory or not satisfactory. ALL your responses must be marked as satisfactory in order to pass the assessment. If your assessment is not deemed satisfactory you will be allowed additional attempts as per the Assessment Policy for VET before being awarded an unsatisfactory mark for the assessment.
